Chex Mix

I love Chex Mix because it's basically the garbage disposal of snack foods. Throw in your leftover candy, nuts, chocolate chips, crackers, or whatever else you have crowding up your cupboards. With so much room for variety, you'll never get sick of it!

  • 9 cups Chex cereal (Use any combination, I mixed corn, rice, and wheat)
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 2 cups Cheerios
  • 6 tablesppons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Suggested Add-on Ingredients:

  • Nuts
  • Raisins
  • Crackers
  • Chocolate chips (add after cooking)
  • Candy pieces (add after cooking)

In a casserole crock, combine the cereals and pretzels as well as any add-on ingredients that can be cooked. (If you don't have a casserole crock, a regular one will work as well, just be sure to be thorough when stirring throughout the cooking process.)

In a bowl, mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Pour this over the cereal mixture and stir until it is evenly coated. Cook on low for 3 hours stirring at the 1 hour, 2 hour, and 2.5 hour points to avoid burning.

Spread the mix on cookie sheets or waxed paper for 5 minutes or until cool. Add any additional add-on ingredients once they are safe from melting.
