Classic Pot Roast

To me, Classic Pot Roast has carrots and potatoes cooking in the pot, along with the roast.  This recipe includes that, but also includes a can of coca-cola to tenderize the meat.  It literally falls apart!

Ingredients:

  • 3 - 4 pound beef roast
  • 1 12-ounce can coca-cola (regular, not diet)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 6 - 7 small red potatoes, cut into wedges
  • 2 cups baby carrots
  • 1 medium onion, cut into wedges

Directions:

Place the carrots, potatoes and onions on the bottom of the slow cooker.  Place beef roast on top of the vegetables. 

In a small bowl, mix together the cola, the brown sugar, the chili sauce and the soup mix.  Mix well and then pour over the roast.

Cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.
