Spaghetti Sauce With Italian Meat

Made with home grown tomatoes and simmered in the crock pot all day!  We like protein with all our meals, so we added Italian spiced meat that we cooked on the stove.  This recipe is from our first try and it couldn't have turned out better.

Ingredients for Sauce:

  • 10 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Ingredients for the meat:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Pasta of choice

Freshly grated Parmesan Cheese

Directions for the Sauce:

Mix all ingredients together in the slow cooker.  Cover and turn on low for 8 hours.

Directions for the meat:

When sauce has approximately 1 hour left to cook, fry up your Italian meat.  Drain well.  Add to crockpot.

(Spaghetti Meat Sauce can be served immediately or placed in Ziplock freezer bag and stored up to three months.

Directions for Pasta:

Cook pasta according to package directions.  Top with meat sauce and Parmesan cheese.  Serve immediately.
